Wesley Nishimoto

Senior Designer

Wesley Nishimoto has over twenty years of experience, with over ten years focused on the practice of healthcare architecture planning and design. He inherited his love of drawing and art from his mother and the technical side from his dad, who worked for CalTrans as a bridge consultant and designer. He was drawn to architecture in search of a career that combined both of his interests and earned a BA in Arch from U.C. Berkeley. Wesley started at M+A in 2021 and has enjoyed working in a collaborative environment that promotes growth through mentoring and sharing knowledge. One of the more challenging projects Wesley was involved in was designing custom residential housing in Japan. His role on these projects included not only design but also procuring and sending building materials, fixtures, and at times furniture and appliances. When he is not at work, you will likely find him working out, cycling, or hiking. One item on his bucket list is to go to every Disney Park around the world. He is only missing Hong Kong, Paris, and Shanghai. One thing that might surprise people to know about Wesley is, one of his ancestors is famous in Japan. His name was Ninomiya Sontoku (or Kinjiro), and he lived from the late 1700s through the mid-1800s. He excelled in agriculture, philosophy, and economics, rebuilt approximately 600 villages, and became a shogunate retainer. His philosophy and methodology became a standard feudal land developmental and economic management format.  Today, children learn about him at school. He has many statues in Japan, and one can even be found in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles.
